Oops. Looks like it wasn't the Secret Policeman's Ball I was remembering at all. It was "Rough Mix", with Ronnie Lane. And it was just released on CD this year.

Wow, this post brought back a flood of my own Who memories. Driving from Champaign-Urbana to Chicago for a concert in a blizzard in a car with no heater (1982, perhaps?). My bad perm and Who sweatshirt with no sleeves.

It may be time to replace some of my long-gone LP's with a few CD's. I actually was more into all the Pete Townshend's stuff...I think "The Secret Policeman's Other Ball" was my favorite.

And you have completely redeemed yourself (in my eyes, anyway) from that unfortunate "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" thing. ;-)

Pink Floyd was that for me. But I was being retro in liking them, so it was harder to find cronies. However, I don't think I ever went quite so far as you . . . yes, these posts have been VERY enlightening!

So, this post inspired me to go look through my box of mementos and low and behold I found a black and white 8x10 of me, you and John "wearing disguises", and holding our "instruments". Well, you actually have drumsticks and John has a mike - I'm holding a trumpet (John Entwistle was an accomplished brass player) and a tennis racket. Sappho is not in the picture alas, but if you look closely, the real Pete is peeking out from a picture on the wall behind your left ear.

I also found the picture you drew of Andrew Simms and I after Andrew asked me out on my very first date to see...The Kids are Alright!!

Do you remember? In it Andrew and I are coming out of the movie theater after having seen the movie. Andrew is gazing at me and his thought balloon contains a heart. MY thought balloon contains lyrics from "My generation". It is clear who has their priorities in order!!!

Count me in as a Who fan. (Was it "The" Who?) Tommy is one of the albums that I can first remember obsessing about. To this day, I sill listen to it.
