I finally managed to wrestle WordPress into submission and thank you for coming to see the result. It wasn’t easy, either. Up until now I managed to avoid using the Box Model Hack in my work, but for this design I had to use it twice. For those not in the know, and just to give you an idea, part of it looks like this:
voice-family: "\"}\"";
voice-family: inherit;
Ugly, huh? And made necessary only by the unfortunate fact that people will persist in using Internet Explorer.
Anyway, I’m really excited about my new blog. I’ve been planning this move to WordPress for some time; it just took me a while get organized and actually do it. I had two reasons for switching: 1) I wanted to be able to answer comments via email, and 2) I wanted the fun of categories. I imported the archives from the old blog and assigned categories to every last post, a project that brought great pleasure to my inner librarian. Not only was the classification oh-so-satisfying, but it was a lot of fun to go back and read it all. When I started blogging in December 2004 I did not even know how to upload an image. And look at me now!
Somebody slap me, please. I’m feeling way too complacent.

Well, I’m glad I’m the first one here to slap you. And, since you gave me an extreme blog makeover, I’m happy to return the favor. :)
Nice look, Julie, I’ll change to this new address asap!
Julie,
Your new blog looks fantastic. I envy you your categories. Maybe one day I too will be bold enough to leave blogger behind!
Uh oh. You took the “the” out of your title! Now people will be really confused! Either that or they will be sure that we are two of the most unimaginative book bloggers out there. ;)
Maybe we should just call ourselves Thing One and Thing Two.
Congrats on the move! You’ll love WordPress! :)
Looking good! Are you ready for summer?
Love your new digs!
Congrats!! Sunshine background suits your mood. This is great news!
As you know I delighted in the category feature offerred by the blogsite I no longer use because of traffic vs. cost.
I can’t use wordpress on our networked system, unfortunately. There’s another way to make categories that my husband taught me that is not something I could teach over the internet, but I haven’t had time to do it until the art shows take a breather. I cannot wait to be organized! Take several bows, sweetie, along with your wonderful kids. I’m so proud of you, tackling all of this full-force and with terrific results! :D
Heh, Dr. Seuss would be amused.
